Most that I'm aware of are what I call 250k plates [25****] and current 2003' FP15th's have 260K plates [26****] meaning there have been over 10,000 Jem's made since they deviated from the serial plate numbering. No matter as most can be dated by the headstock serial # but there will be guitars without them and the plate number will be the only number available. Late BFP's with direct mount pickups for example which bear these 160k/250k plates and no headstock sticker. The UV plate numbers also changed to these consecutive plates and will be found on late UV7BK's in both green dot and silver. Universe plate 912787 would denote a production year of 91 and the 2787th Universe built.

1997 - Present - Under the old numbering scheme 1997 would show duplicate numbers to 1987 so the serial number was changed to the F and 7 digits, now the first 2 denoting year of production. F98***** is a guitar built by Fujigen in 1998.

STL and TS10 After the 9 series was discontinued, the MASTER or L series pedals were made, without a tube screamer in the lineup. This series was only made in about 1985. They did include the SUPER TUBE model STL, which is like a 4 knob tube screamer. It is similar to the rare and valuable ST-9 Super Tube Screamer which seems to have been sold only in Europe. I haven't found any serial number decoding system (similar to the one at bossarea.com) for the Ibanez pedals, so there's no way to accurately get a manufacture date just off a serial number. However, there are clues. The CE thing went into effect in 1996, and IIRC the CS-9 reissue came about after that date. If my memory is correct, a reissue CS-9 should therefore have a CE marking on its label. Also, current production Ibanez 9 series pedals all seem to have 7-digit serial numbers (the originals and some of the early reissue TS-9's had 6 digits).

That seems to make the most sense. That said, we may be barking up the wrong tree. I saw a post on a different forum about someone looking for info on an AW-60 with 0608045 as the serial number. There are many ways if identifying the Ibanez model. You should always ask the seller if he knows what the model is (in some cases with more recent guitars, the model will be in the back of the headstock next to the serial number). If he does not know, ask him for the serial number which is located on the back of the headstock. The other thing you will need is a picture. Why would you buy a guitar online without seeing it anyways? A serial number can tell you many things about an Ibanez guitar. When and where the guitar was made (as well as the production number) A typical serial number will look like this: F90512345 The letter tells you what factory the guitar was made in.
