I've set up the HD2 and to be honest, I'm quite happy with the GUI. The movie jukebox with YAMJ is pretty much what I was expecting from the movie wall. Is the movie wall on the Mede8er better than the HD2's jukebox with YAMJ in any way? I guess I'll wait to see what people say about the 500X2 when and if the firmware gets hacked.

I have been running this mediator firmware for quite some time now but I am having issues with the unit freezing right after starting a video if I let the thing time out and reboot itself then sometimes the same video will then play fine, sometimes it needs 3 or 4 reboots. It’s driving me nuts can anyone please tell me how to downgrade the firmware back to Original AC Ryan because both of the usual methods keep telling me the firmware is not compatible with this hardware, and yes I am using the right version. I have the iconbit loader installed.

With the installed HD I didn't have to shut down BT although I was just doing some low bandwidth seeds and I didn't consciously have to worry about what activity is going on on my PC. I tried both firmware versions and neither flashed. After holding the power button to safe flash it showed a “Mede8er doesn’t support this hardare” type of message.

After I selected the folders for the Videowall I want to choose a picture for the specific folder, like Action, Drama, Comedy etc. I go to the Videowall and choose Action, then I press the Menu button and then I see the little icon where I can choose pictures for the folders. But when I choose this I get an empty little screen, so no genre icons.

Hi Testicle (now this sounds weirdLOL) – fast and responsive! It’s definitely not as pretty as the new GUI from AC Ryan but at least it not riddled with bugs. Be sure to use the safe flashing method if you attempt this: •Copy install.img to the root directory of a USB flash drive and connect it to any USB host port of the Playon!HD. •Switch off the main power to the unit. •Press and hold on to the power button on the front panel of the unit. •Switch on the main power.

Since im on the original PlayonHD, not the HD 2, im assuming the DD+ is not the same as a DD C+? And there’s no Mede8er firmware unlocked for me? There are unfortunately still some small problems with Dolby Digital Plus in pass-through and FLAC (some files give random stuttering). We have however, already found the problem of Dolby Digital Plus which requires changes in the core coding. We therefore expect to have this fixed in a upcoming firmware. Within Internet Media we have included new Internet Feeds from Yahoo Finance, different Video Podcasts, and BuddyLink (which allows you to use Google Talk on your TV).

Glad there is no stuttering when streaming movies only over a wired network. That was without a HD installed, wasn't it? If your router supports QoS you might try this out to combine streaming movies and BT activities. No stuttering over wired network without HD installed, however I don't recommend it. Without the installed HD there will be very little buffering and the slightest congestion on your network/disk will cause stuttering.

Not as pretty as the Myka screenshots but it works none the less. However, I cannot figure out how to browse the HDD on the ACRyan. I can see it in my network places but I get a fat warning about lack of permissions. Mine just popped up in the network places and I could browse/copy, did not ask me about permissions. I hate network settings and was pretty relieved it didnt give me any fuss there.

AFAIK this will void your warranty so do it at your own risk. Most problems can be fixed by flashing back to the playon firmware anyway.
